Rangeland occupies
approximately 51 percent (6,7 billion ha) of the earth´s
land surface (Heady
und Child, 1994 according to
the World Resources Institute, 1986), that means that
every second square meter once in a year is pastured by
grazing animals. Therefore in general rangeland is the
most important ecosystem in the world.
